What the Colorado Student Association does for Colorado’s Students ...

Education

CSA publishes policy reports on issues such as quality indicator systems, articulation agreements, credit transferability, distance education, and tuition.

                        Regular Campus Updates

CSA maintains a website with information and links regarding Colorado colleges and universities as well as the Colorado General Assembly and the Colorado Commission on Higher Education.

CSA also maintains an email list-server that anyone can join at our website and receive regular legislative updates and news on upcoming events.

Leadership Conferences and Training Workshops

Topics include:  lobbying, working with administration, voter registration, media relations, student fees, tuition, tenure, capital development, financial aid, and technology

Opportunities to work with students from around the state.

                        Campus Visits

The CSA staff and Board of Directors regularly visit campuses to maintain relations and to discuss various issues with student governments.

                        Student Networking

CSA facilitates communication among student organizations both in Colorado and nationwide in order to facilitate the exchange of information and ideas between student groups.

Advocacy

In order to have a voice in higher education issues, the Colorado Student Association maintains relations with the State of Colorado through two full time lobbyists.

            Colorado General Assembly

CSA Maintains a presence with the General Assembly when the legislature is in session from January to May.

CSA meets with the internal caucuses of the Assembly and presents the issues that are important to students.

CSA works with the authors of higher education bills in order to pass amendments that are good for students.

Colorado Commission on Higher Education (CCHE)

CSA holds an official advisory seat on the CCHE board.

CSA regularly drafts changes for CCHE policy.

CSA is active in CCHE policy discussion on issues such as quality indicators and distance education.

            The CSA Representative Assembly

The Representative Assembly meets twice per year to vote on what CSA’s agenda will include.  The Assembly works with the staff to decide which legislative and campus issues should be addressed by CSA.
